It will be recalled that on September 9, 2011, KOGA Entertainment, released five out of the 10 artistes who will be performing at the highly anticipated concert of the year come December 23 at TBS, Lagos. The five acts are African queen crooner, Tuface Idibia, rapper, MI, Afro juju creator, Sir Shina Peters, Paramount King of Fuji, Obesere and Trybesmen honcho, Eldee.
In a bid to engage the general public, KOGA Entertainment asked people to predict the remaining five artistes and win blackberry phones, mini laptops, TV sets and designer wears from Shakara Clothing. Thus, the race began, the competition ended last week Friday with no one getting the prediction right.
“The weeks of the predictions were the most exciting weeks at Bigsam Media. Some people came close with their predictions, some had depths, others were funny while some were completely way off mark. We thank the people for participating and hope they will win gifts in the competition that will still follow this campaign’’ the agency said..
However, KOGA Entertainment has revealed the identity of the five remaining artistes that will be performing alongside Tuface Idibia, Eldee, Sir Shina Peters, M.I and Obesere.
Emerging Afro beat legend, Femi Kuti, will be leading the new generation artistes which includes Port Harcourt’s first son, Duncan Mighty, youngster, Whizkid, female singer, Mocheddah and the Okoye twins, P-Square in the concert that has been tagged the concert of the people, by the people and for the people.
So, come December 23rd, at the expansive venue, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, TOP 10 MICS concert will parade 10 leading lights in the Nigerian music industry namely Tuface, Femi Kuti, Eldee Tha Don, Sir Shina Peters, MI, Duncan Mighty, Mochedah, P-Square, Obesere and Whizkid.

In a concert that is
akin to an eclectic collection of different genres of music ranging from hip hop
to RnB, afro beat, juju, dancehall, pop, highlife and
others.
Koga Entertainment
is staging a concert that has something for everyone. It is a departure from
what is obtainable in concerts in Nigerian entertainment industry as most
concerts only carter for hip hop and youth market.
‘ We are doing Top10 MICS for many reasons, long before
now, some of us who are old enough still have memories of Lekki Sun Splash and
other concerts at open venues where people enjoyed themselves, feel safe and
look forward to the next edition. We are trying to recreate the memory of good
old days with the infusion of contemporary offerings. Aside this, we are also
trying to create a concert where everybody will have a sense of belonging. We
are tired of events where only hip hop audience would be catered for. We want an
event where fans of different genres of music could mix and experience the
thrill of live performances of leading lights in different genres.

TELL ME YOUR NAME - DAVINCI Ft. YUGO
Introducing DAVINCI and Yugo, both fresh new Nigerian talent. They met in Ghana, and released a concept song titled 'Tell me Your Name' which was produced by Peewee.
DAVINCI, a rapper born in Lagos has Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West as his music influences.
Source-Q met up with him last week:
Source-Q: 'When did you develop an interest in music?'
DAVINCI: 'um...primary six, about 2002. Then I wrote a song titled 'bullshit' in 2003 that was a hit among my classmates and everyone kept singing this line from the song. It was pretty cool. And that was when I thought this was actually something I liked, a lot'
Source-Q: 'If you had to describe your music in three words, what would you use?'
DAVINCI: My music is smooth, fresh, and distinctive'
Source-Q: 'What are your songs about?'
DAVINCI: 'hmm....my songs are basically about booze, sex, weed...*laughs* nahhh...actually, I write stuff that people don't easily talk about. Serious stuff sometimes.'
Source-Q: 'Where do you see yourself as an artiste in the next five years?'
DAVINCI: I'll be done with school. I'm looking at music production, business. By God's grace I'll be known globally.
Source-Q: 'What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?'
DAVINCI: hahahaha....wait wait wait, let me call my friend to tell you....this is gonna be good.
Source-Q: 'laughs* are you really gonna do that?
DAVINCI: nahh....I'm not actually going to tell you *laughs*
Source-Q: 'As an artist, how would you define success?'
DAVINCI: my own definition of success is when you can actually hold your head high and say confidently that you've passed a message across and influenced people with your music.
Source-Q: 'Can you tell us about your single 'Tell me your name', the inspiration, and why you decided to do it with Yugo'
DAVINCI: ok...I'm a shy guy. And you know how when you're in a new place and you see this pretty girl and you just wonder what her name is. So 'tell me your name' captures all those things. The whole experience of meeting someone new, and sometimes the first step to knowing that person is after they tell you their name.
So I met up with Yugo, he shared my concept for the song and I liked his style of music, so we decided to do the song together and it turned out good.
Source-Q: 'Tell us something no one knows about you'
DAVINCI: hmmmmmmm....I play the guitar....not very well though...*laughs*
Source-Q: 'if there was one popular song you could perform with the artiste. What song would that be and which artiste would that be?'
DAVINCI: Ahhhhh....definitely 'Hate it or love it' by The Game.
Source-Q: 'What's the best advice you've ever gotten?'
DAVINCI: Your life does not belong to anyone else. It's about you. So dont try to please other people. Be yourself.
Source-Q: thank you very much for your time DAVINCI. We enjoyed talking with you.
